Bits and Bobbins

by Mr X on 11 November 2008

Here’s two pictures of recent developments.
Progress is good on the Panika piece. Getting the point where it’s stitching two Xs of one colour then having to tie it off and do another colour. But the end is in sight and I’m working out how to make the most noise about it when it’s done. I’m going to try and post on a couple of graffiti sites if I can. If you have any other suggestions of where I could post about this piece when it’s done, I’d be grateful.

The other pics are an effort at trying to get all three of my bobbin boxes in the same shot. Yes, after several hours of winding, I managed to get all my newly won threads together. And I am very content.
I got some good threads – some of those varigated ones, lots of metallic shiny ones and light effects. And quite a few neons. I think my favourite is the one Glow In The Dark thread I got, which I shall save for a special occasion.
But now I have a three box strategy, with all the threads in numerical order. It’s luurrvvverly.
Of course I still haven’t got all the threads I need to finish my current works. Part of me wants to get one of those eBay deals where I can buy sixty threads and choose the colours. And then just fill in the gaps in my collection… Hmm….

This makes me want to go buy tons of floss and wrap them all up! I bet your fingers are sore.

i love the floss bows…just bend the bow and slide the floss on. that way you don’t have to rewind everything and then have it have the creases every inch or so…

but that is me!

i am jealous of the sheer quantity!

mmmm looks nice! I try to be organized by putting them together by color… but I always fuck it up! but i do put the little number stickers on! So I am not that much of a lazy ass!

Hi y’all!
Bobbin envy is a wonderful thing. I did enjoy winding the bobbins up, in a sort of “wow my arm is getting tired” kinda way.
But I love having them all in order now.

@muffin – I tried the bows once, but couldn’t find a way to organise them thereafter. So resorted to the old ways.

@Brook – I have adopted the zen approach with the threads. The effort put in at the early stages pays dividends in the long run.

I am resisting the temptation to make a spreadsheet with the threads on. That’s moving from zen to geek, so I shall resist..!

I’m looking forward to seeing your work completed. :) Also, seeing all that floss gave me chills. *jealous*
