Craftster Pick of the Week! – Cathiphop

by Mr X on 25 January 2009

Time for another look at some of the great work featured in the Needlecraft section at Craftster. The people who post on there are doing some amazing things with the medium, and this week’s choice is no exception.
Note: Although they’re the pick of this week, they may have appeared before this week.

I’m such a massive fan of Cathiphop it hurts. The first time I saw one of her graffiti pieces, I begged and pleaded and she was kind enough to let me have it. It is in pride of place on the wall in my office.

This latest work as a swap piece is by the artist Swoon. What Cath has done with it is amazing. The original is a graffiti piece in white on a red wall, and Cath’s work brings it to life with added texture.

She’s really clever with the way she puts her work together; I love the decision to fill the bottom of the piece with colour, which brings it out from the two dimensions of the original.

This really is a terrific piece of work and the recipient of it is a lucky person. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!
