The Cutting & Stitching Edge – Melissa Sue Stanley

by Mr X on 10 February 2009

Melissa Sue Stanley is a self-taught artist from Chicago who enjoys “creating things, eating, and bluegrass.” She makes Amiguri.

Well, she makes other things as well and is a talented artist, but it’s her monsters that caught my eye. They are charming, and she notes in her blog that she is often surprised with the transition from the beasts she draws on the page to the creations that appear.

She also embroiders monsters as well as selling the original designs for them in her etsy shop.

And to prove it’s not all RRRARRGH stuff (okay maybe that’s an exaggeration), she also does birds, fungi, hats and other crocheted marvels. You can spend time in her world via her blog.
