This week I’m going to feature some crafty goodness related to one of my very favorite things – or as Mr. X would say, “favourite things” – Flight of the Conchords.
Ah, Bret and Jemaine. They have the same effect on me as the Jonas Brothers do on pre-teen girls everywhere. The songs! The dancing! The accents! If you haven’t had the chance to experience FOTC yet, please, I implore you – do it. Right now. I’ll wait for you. Here, you might want to start with the first thing I saw from them, Business Time, or maybe one of my new favorites, Jenny.
See? Good stuff, right? So it’s no wonder the boys from New Zealand have developed a huge following, including some very talented crafters.
I found these embroideries inspired by the song Boom in Rakka’s photostream on flickr:
The next two were made by Lilyvanilli on craftster. You can check out her blog here. She made this gorgeous embroidery of the boys about a year ago:
She was gracious enough to make this pattern available so other FOTC fans could use it if they wish.
She also made this, which was inspired by the song The Humans are Dead:
Rosy Hawbaker of Recreative Crafts knows that there are those who love Jemaine so much, they want to dream about him:
You can buy the pillow here.
Finally, I humbly submit one of my recent works. It was inspired by the new song, SugaLumps, specifically by the lyric “all the ladies, they hustle to ruffle my truffle.”
I should cut myself off here before this becomes the longest post in blog history. I hope you enjoyed this look at FOTC crafts. If you’re not already a fan, check them out. If you are and you’re crafty, make something! I want more!

Those guys rock! And it’s no real surprise that the craft world has taken them to heart.
In the last episode I watched Murray’s best friend Jim was doing a spot of knitting himself..! Surely the boys doing some cross stitch is not far away!
Great post Beef!
I love Flight of the Conchords! Someone needs to embroider the painting that Mel made of Jemaine (and then later with Bret added in). That would be hilarious and all kinds of awesome.
Thanks, Jamie! And that’s right, I forgot about the knitting! I was watching that episode while I wrote this, too.
Tanya – that would be at least 17 kinds of awesome, perhaps more. Also, someone should embroider the poster Jemaine drew in the first season, where Bret is added to the side and about 10 times smaller than him.
I so wish I could go see them when their tour hits my city! If you haven’t yet seen last Sunday’s episode… well it’s got to be one of the best ones!
Oops! Hit “submit” too soon (which sounds like an After School special about abstinence…), but anyway… what was I saying?
Oh! Someone should embroider Bret’s face on a speaker as per the episode I mentioned before.
Tara, that is an awesome idea! The song in that segment was very inspiring, too.
i love flight of the conchords! all this stuff is so great!
Too funny that I missed this post and somehow (psychic?) I embroidered the band poster just like you wished!

They do a lot of crafting on that show — glassblowing, knitting, helmet hair, weaving, painting, embroidery, etc. I’m wondering who did the embroidered piece of Sally’s face that was eventually turned into a t-shirt? Was it machine-stitched? Or did some lucky crafter get to do a piece for the show?
