So by now you’re starting to get a sense of the things that are important to me, and stitching and recycling are up there among them.
So when I picked up this picture among a bunch of others from a charity shop and saw that it had a quality bit of stitchery in it, I knew that I couldn’t just throw it away, there had to be something better that could be done with it.

I pretty much knew what I wanted to do with it, but I let the idea ruminate for a few weeks before having a go. I think it took about ten hours in total to do, spread out over a month.
I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out.
Guess those Victorians get to let it all hang out at the 1970’s disco now. I believe the young lady is even considering showing an ankle! And is it me, or is our gentleman friend looking a bit luckier now that the scene has been set..?

This is so awesome, Jamie! When I saw the first few blocks & your clues, I got super excited about what you were doing with it
Brilliant!
J,
I love what you’ve done here. I really love the idea of remixing previously stitched work… i’ll have to keep my eyes out at the thrift stores now!
It is amazing what a background can do to a picture. The original stitching was lovely, but you throw in that floor with all the bright colors and suddenly the piece is fantastic. I love the idea of remixing these old pieces. Looking forward to seeing more!
Perfection.
Interesting. I wonder what you could do with all the crappy puppies my mother in law stitched.
As I ssaid in your crafter post, it really looks like they’re disco dancing and now that dapper fellow looks a bit coked-up! Wheee!
Love it
brilliant idea!!
