I love mythical and fantasy creatures, so I am pleased to report that this week’s Emporium is all about Veronica Fuentes, founder of Whimsiology.
Artist Veronica Fuentes defines Whimsiology as “the study of fanciful, silly and ill-fated rooted creatures.”
Her embroideries are fantastic and surreal, introducing us to unique and beautiful creatures.
This tigerlily is a colorful example of her combining plant and animal. She breathes life into her creations that previously only existed in her imagination.
She is able to convey the emotions her subjects are feeling with just a few delicate stitches. She has exquisite details in each piece, from flowers and foliage to facial expressions and flowing hair.
