The Cutting (& Stitching) Edge – Meagan Ileana

by Mr X on 18 June 2009

Mr X Stitch presents the Cutting & Stitching EdgeMeagan Ileana’s work moves me.

Meagan Ileana Embroidery - Fingerprints

Her stitched pieces are beautiful. They are personal, exploring quiet moments, but with simple elegance.

Meagan Ileana Embroidery - Absence

Her use of outline is echoes the art nouveau style, but her characterisation reminds me of the wonderful work in Terry Moore’s Strangers In Paradise.

Meagan Ileana Embroidery - Freedom

Every piece of work that I see brings a smile to my face. Her stitched vignettes are sometimes joyful and sometimes poignant. But always beautiful.

You can see more Meagan’s work on her blog, or at her Flickr photostream. Or if you’re in the Bloomington, Indiana area, then go and see her work for real!

Do you love this as much as I do?

I love the attention to detail in all of these, particularly the tattoo. She’s able to convey such emotion with such simple lines.

I always have appreciate line and her lines are simple yet define forms beautifully. I particularly like the one with the bird and the fact the bird is stitched whole suggesting to me it is sated after feeding off its prey.
Fabulous.
