Benjibot: manbroiderer, Phat Quarter member, purveyor of nerdy and snarky cross stitches. We featured him here at Mr X Stitch when he completed his Dragon Warrior series. He’s done so much and so many varied things, I thought it would be nice to celebrate his entire catalog.

Macs and Apple products seem to be a big part of Benjibot’s life, as you can see from the many Mac related projects he has completed.

My favorite of these is Clarus the Dogcow. Moof!

If a cross stitch can be deadpan, this one is. Wonderful and hilarious.

This minipop stitch of Wesley Willis with lyrics from his song Rock And Roll McDonalds is a great tribute. I particularly love the way his belly peeks out from under his t-shirt.

Benjibot was good enough to participate in the anatomy themed swap over at the Phat Quarter flickr group recently, and this was his contribution. The image is Lucky Lucy, a very nice lady from a NES game called Hot Slot.

His latest stitch was taken from a subheading in a post on Merlin Mann’s blog, 43 Folders. I’m particularly fond of this, and not just because I’ve been known to stitch a quote or two from Merlin Mann myself. This is lovely, especially the metallic thread.
Benjibot’s work appeals to me for a lot of reasons, but one of the main things I enjoy about it is the obscure references. Wesley Willis, Clarus the Dogcow, Hot Slots – these are not on the front lines of popular culture. If I immediately recognize the subject matter of one of his new projects, I feel somewhat cooler for it.
So if you want to be cooler, go check out his website – all kinds of wonderful things are there, and it will also lead you to his flickr photostream and etsy store.

#3 is an all time personal favorite of mine that I would love to get my hands on. Benjibot is so awesome.
Wow thanks. It’s an honor and I’m dead chuffed[1] with the selection of works that you’ve chosen from my catalog.
I’ve never thought that I’m some kind of damned stitching hipster in my selection of material but I think fairly spot on. I just see so many Marios and moogles and Mega Mans (Mega Men?) that I’m always looking to make something you haven’t seen yet. It’s like Merlin said in that Free as in “Me” post: you’ve got to really drill down into that niche if you’re going to bother. Maybe not that many people have ever heard of Hot Slot but if they have I bet they’d be pumped to see that I’ve made a thing out of it.
I appreciate the recognition and I hope you’ll stay tuned for my future works. Please look forward to it. *bow bow*

My brain took a nosedive.
Woot! Benjibot! He’s one of my favorite stitchers out there. And he’s so freakin’ nice! Great post.
Ben, I’m grateful that a) you used “chuffed” and b) that I know you. You’re a quality geezer!
You said chuffed! ^_^
And I am definitely looking forward to your future works, sir.
