Showtime! Quilted Portraits & Stitched Scenes, Chicago, Illinois

by Mr X on 5 September 2009

It's ShowTime!

Tonight sees the opening of the “Quilted Portraits & Stitched Scenes” exhibition at 360SEE in Chicago, Illinois.

It features six quilted portraits by Luke Haynes, as well as pieces by Mr X Stitch favourites Alex Walters and Gillian Bates.

The organisers of the event have this to say:

Quilted Portraits & Stitched Scenes is the first exhibition at 360SEE to feature fabric and fiber art work. While fiber art is often abstract and can feel unaccessible to many, this exhibition strives to show amazingly well executed fabric pieces that are approachable both in subject matter (portraits, scenes, and the depiction of representational objects) and in presentation (pieces stretched like paintings or pinned to the wall).

It looks like a really cool exhibition – Alex’s submissions are her Promise of Pills pieces, which you can see more of them here to whet your appetite.

360SEE gallery is at 1924 N Damen Ave in Chicago. The exhibition runs from 11th September to 1st November.

If you go, be sure to come back and tell us what you thought!
