Neta Amir is a fabric and textile artist who originally studied fashion design. After working for a few commercial companies, she decided she wanted to devote her time to creating art instead. One area of focus in her art is cloth dolls.

This doll, Buba, was not quite finished when this striking photo was taken. One of the wonderful things about Neta’s photostream and blog is the amount of quality WIP photos she provides as she brings new projects to life.

This family of sock dolls offer vibrant colors and patterns along with the meticulous detail that accompanies all of her work.

Neta is also a skilled photographer, as you can see in this portrait. In fact, she has a set of portraits in her photostream filled with great photos like this one.

In addition to her wonderful dolls, Neta makes other things out of cloth and fabric, some of them quite unexpected.

This camera is made from socks. It’s already a fairly amazing piece, but when you look at the back…

You can see the “picture” the camera has just snapped. Incredible, right? Wait, there’s more!

She also made the room in the picture the camera took – entirely out of socks.
While looking through Neta’s work, each time I thought I had seen her most amazing piece, the next piece made me change my mind. She puts a little bit of magic into everything she does, whether it’s the dolls and art pieces you’ve seen here, or some of her more functional creations like cloth shoes and cups. Please check out her flickr photostream or her blog to see more of her work and descriptions of her projects. Neta also has an etsy store if you would like to make one of her works your own.

I’ve always liked the way Neta makes stories from her art–even when it’s in progress, like chapters. Thanks for profiling her!
