Her work concentrates on bodies, their parts and what can happen to them. She uses embroidery, machine stitching and quilting techniques to create large scale pieces of work.

She takes inspiration from first aid manuals, and anatomical drawings to create works that are simple and yet contain dramatic elements. She also creates three-dimensional works, including these body parts which are both charming and slightly macabre.

Her Korpermuster series features two girls wrestling one another. The installation pieces portray the fight over a series of panels – the dangling threads do a great job of emphasising the struggle between the two warriors.

Sybille’s work is playful and humourous, and yet laced with darkness. The scale of her works, which isn’t really obvious in the pictures contained herein, is quite impressive, and they have a simply elegance that is quite endearing.
