Hi everyone! This week’s post is all about the wonderfully surreal work of Alaina Varrone.
We featured her back in October with a remarkably deep piece of NSFW stitchery, but I wanted to take more time to showcase some of her other embroideries.
Her style reminds me of Porterness; the combination of charming design and dark humor is irresistible. Her hand embroidery is well executed and she has terrific characterisation.
One of the things I really love about Alaina is when she posts pictures on her Flickr account, they are often accompanied by the statement “I don’t really know what this means” which just reflects her creativity. It is also something that I personally understand.
