Beefranck’s Emporium – Mama Sass

Hi everyone! This week I want to take a look at the work of Mama Sass, aka Morgan. She’s a multi-talented lady who makes and sells things like crocheted items, toys and t-shirts in her etsy store, but I’m going to focus on her embroidery – of course. :)

Morgan’s work is fresh and original. She stitches things I have never seen anyone tackle before, like this piece inspired by Tesla.

This piece was inspired by an inside joke between herself and a friend that you can read more about here – but I was amused before I ever read the story. :)

Morgan did a series I adore called Badasses Drinking Through Straws. Yeah, you read that right. :) I already posted here about Genghis Khan drinking a bubble tea, but what do some of the other badasses like?

Napoleon enjoys a Big Gulp.

darth

Darth Vader likes his soda.

coffy

Coffy prefers a juice box.

Another series of stitches from Morgan features an inspiring use of negative space to illustrate her subjects.

I just love these!

Of course, I have to mention that Morgan and I did a craft swap recently. She made me a wonderful Mystery Science Theater 3000 embroidery that you can see here. I loved it so much, I asked her if she could make another for one of my best friends for Christmas. This bit of awesome is what she came up with. Mama Sass saved Christmas!

If you’re digging Mama Sass as much as I do, be sure to check out her flickr photostream, blog, or etsy store. You’ll be glad you did!
