Aren’t fifth Fridays great? As you know, here at Mr X Stitch we have plenty of action on the other four Fridays, so when a fifth Friday comes along we get all excited and just have to have a giveaway!
And have we got some juicy prizes for three lucky winners!
First up we have a $50 gift voucher from our friends at Urban Threads who, incidentally, have got a free Valentine’s Day pattern available for download at the moment!
Next up, you could win a free pattern from Stitchalicious! The Virgins Series come from a collaboration with a Berlin-based Chilean artist and come with a offset printed pattern on cardstock, fabric, needle and DMC threads.
As well as being a pattern maker and a Stumpwork genius, Stitchalicious (also known as Alien Ted) runs embroidery classes in Berlin and has got one on 4th February for beginners. There’s more information on her site.

And last, but by no means least, you could win one of Leethal’s Connect the Dots Embroidery kits! Beefranck gave you the full SP on those little beauties earlier today, so you know exactly what you’re going to win already!
“So,” I hear you ask, “what do I have to do to win one of those wonderful prizes?” Well it goes a little something like this…
We want to know what your favourite non-stitchy craft blogs and sites are. We want to get our name out and about on the coolest crafting blogs and although we’ve got a good rep with some of the classic crafting sites, we want more. So all you have to do is leave a comment with the names of crafty sites that you can’t live without.
We’ll keep the comments open until midnight on 4th February at which point we will use a random number generator to pick out three winners. The winner will be contacted by email so make sure we’ve got your address. One prize per winner. Easy peasy.
Good luck!

Craftster is the only one for me!
I follow Craft and Make with regularity, and will often peek in on Badder Homes & Gardens (not really DIY, but often inspirational).
My top favorite is probably Pumpkin Wizards (carvingpumpkins.com) – I’m a pumpkin-carving fiend in the fall and work on both real and artificial ‘kins. They offer great patterns and a forum full of the most informative carving experts out there!
Another site I love is matrices.net for their tutorials on costume-making – even down to building your own fans to put in mascot-style heads. These guys have helped me out with many a Comic-Con creation.
And I don’t know if knitting counts as stitching, but if not, I must mention Knitting Today (knittingtoday.com). As a machine knitter I have found their site and forum invaluable (although I’ve given myself over to machine embroidery in the past year and don’t really go there currently).
I love geekcrafts.com, and chicaandjo.com.
my favourite crafty hangout is the crafter…oo forum crafter…oo forum lots of friendly crafters covering many different crafts

A multicrafter after my own heart.

I’m in the boring minority, but I love craftster and visit it often!
I justrecently discovered Urban Threads. Love, love, love! Not yer grandmother’s embroidery and crafts
I should not go through the link already posted because that will waste so much time and I would have to add so many to my lists that it would waste more of the time EVERYDAY that I am supposed to be doing other things, like swaps and cleaning and oh, taking care of my kids!
So here are some of my daily goodies for you:
http://daisyyellow.squarespace.com/
http://artmind-etcetera.blogspot.com/

My favorites are:
http://www.centsationalgirl.com/
http://burlapandblue.blogspot.com/
Thanks!
http://forums.organicgardening.com/eve/forums
Yes, it’s a gardening forum. There’s a craft section for “show and tell”. Gardeners need to do stuff in the winter, you see… once the harvest is canned or dried or frozen. It’s not organized. It’s not tutorial-based. But you will not likely find elsewhere a heated debate on whether to use rinsed oak ashes or Drano when you’re rendering your recently-slaughtered beef fat for soap, or how to shear your llama for the wool you’re going to spin…
And then there’s the gourd jokes. (Musical instrument, or birdhouse? And should that really be hanging at such a suggestive angle?)
http://www.motherearthnews.com/Do-It-Yourself.aspx
Another place I go to for non-stitchy winter creativity.
I love Urband Threads it has been the best find ever and my friends love it too. One of my other favorite sites is http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/.

My favorite other hobby/craft is digital scrapbooking. The BEST site for this is http://www.digishoptalk.com/index.php
From there, you can go to litterally 100’s of blogs and stores for supplies. It’s really fun and cool.
Thanks,
Lisa
