BRIDGET IS THE EMMA PEEL OF CROSS STITCHING. Jamie's John Steed, but that's not important here.
1. Emma Peel- She is a feminist heroine, eschewing traditional "damsel-in-distress" portrayals of women

This blog and Bridget's (and everyone else's stitches on here, too!) were the main reason I started embroidering and cross stitching, lo those many, many months ago. OK, so it's only been about 5 months since I first stretched fabric over a hoop and took a needle and floss to it. But it seems like so much longer. I even named my daughter Bridget after her. OK (again), so I named her that in 2006 before ever knowing cross stitch Bridget existed, but still. Wicked awesome coicidence, huh?

I ♥ Beefrank. :-) (I hope I'm not too cyber-stalk-ish...)

I have to say that Beefranck's posts and flickr photos are the reason I went back to needlepoint after not having done any for almost 20 years. The idea of stitching something with bunnies and graceful letters that delicately spelled out "Fuck Off!!!" completely tickled me. I knew about Subversive Cross-stitch, but there was something about Bridget's presentation that really inspired me. So, thank you, Beefranck, for reminding me how enjoyable needlework is. (Michael's crafts also thanks you, because one of the first things I did was go nuts in the floss aisle.)
