I’m really drawn to what I call Lit Stitch – needlework inspired by poetry or literature. I wrote a post specific to poetry, but today I’ll include other sources as well.

I was thrilled to see Cornflowerblue Studio‘s embroidery of Molly Bloom’s Soliloquy from Ulysses.

Dorothy Parker was well known for her way with words and her wit, as this piece by slmirtsching illustrates. She’s done a whole series of cocktail napkins with quotes from Dorothy. You can see them all here.

I couldn’t choose one Vonnegut embroidery from savvymojo, so I’m just going to show you all of them.
Here’s Billy Pilgrim’s famous epitaph.

She also embroidered some various illustrations from other works by Vonnegut. Check out savvymojo’s blog to keep up with her work.

Heidi Rosebud embroidered sweet words from a love letter written by the poet Keats. *swoon*

This piece by Baie is simple, but perfect for the last lines of Lady Lazarus by Sylvia Plath.

Last but not least, Penny Nickels brings us a cootie catcher with a surprise inside.

Excerpts from Delta of Venus by Anaïs Nin. Is it hot in here? Suddenly it seems really hot in here. Huh. Anyway, Penny can make a custom cootie catcher for you with whatever you want inside if you send her a message through her etsy store. Go get one!
I hope you enjoyed this look at Lit Stitch as much as I enjoyed putting it together. See you next week!

Another fantastic Emporium!
Gorgeous! I love the first one. It’s so delicate and makes such great use of the fabric in the composition.
Love them. All of them. All the time.
Thanks.
And I am IN LOVE with the first one. Here’s a closer look:
