Jackalopes have been a part of my life since I was a little girl and I first saw one on a postcard at one of the National Parks on vacation. I was determined to see one in real life, and I was devastated to learn that they weren’t actually real. I must not be the only one who finds these creatures intriguing, because there are plenty crafted versions of them to be found.

Here’s a pretty one with a homemade scarf from Stitchface.

A lovely silver version from Girlsavage.

A tiny baby one from Skunkboy Creatures.

Here’s an ebony woodland version from astulabee.

Here’s one in the unmistakable style of ninon.

And this embroidered jackalope and his keeper, Hazel, by bleachrainbow on Craftster.
It’s wonderful to see so many versions, but I want more! Here’s hoping someone out there reading this might be inspired to make some antlered jackrabbits in the future.

I love jackalopes too, and I only found out about them a year ago! These are some great examples
Crikey! Those little buggers get about a bit!
I also like the Jackalope featured in the film Boundin’ which was an extra on the Incredibles DVD.
There is obviously something wrong with me, because as I child I was absolutely terrified of jackalopes! They seemed like adorable bunnies but they had EVIL ANTLERS OF D00M. I was relieved when I found out they were real.
Love all of these though, even if they got my heart racing.
Long Live the Jackalope!
