Maria Pineres is an artist from Los Angeles.
Maria’s chosen art form is needlepoint and she uses it to great effect.
From the Rogues Gallery series, to her recent NASCAR piece, Maria’s work is a breath of fresh air, blowing the cobwebs away from an oft-overlooked form of embroidery.
I really like this work; needlepoint’s simplicity means it doesn’t really get much credit in comparison to other stitchery forms. Maria gives the genre a wake up call and I hope that she inspires other people to give it a go and see what they can do.
Visit her website to find out more; Maria might be the saviour of needlepoint…

Sensational. Absolutely, positively sensational. Heading on over to her site right NOW! Thanks for sharing.
Holy crap! I’m really impressed. The colors, the composition…transcends the grid she’s working on.
Doesn’t it? It’s a bit mind-bending, given the apparent simplicity of the needlepoint stitch. Awesome.
