It's the Fifth Friday Festival of Fabulousness from Mr X Stitch!Mastering the Art of Embroidery by Sophie Long - cover

Sophie Long is a graduate of the Royal School of Needlework, an extremely talented embroiderer and has the dubious honour of being the person that taught me the waste knot technique for cross stitch. So I was pleased to see her new book, Mastering the Art of Embroidery, hit the stores. It’s a cracker.

Sophie’s talent in embroidery shines throughout the book, with clear illustrative examples of several stitch types, and inspirational designs for you to try.

The book is well laid out, with big pictures and plenty of explanations of the different techniques. If you’ve ever wanted to dip into the finer side of embroidery, this book is a great tool.

As well as all the instruction there are interviews with an assortment of quality embroiderers, and it’s a real treat to see our good friends Urban Threads making an appearance.
