The Royal School of Needlework is dedicated to teaching, practising and promoting the art of hand embroidery in the 21st century. We run courses in hand embroidery for all levels from beginner to degree programmes in all techniques.

“We offer an Embroidery Studio where we work on both the conservation and restoration of historical textiles as well as creating new commissions.  Recent clients include:- Embroidered Oscar dress for Red Carpet Green Dress; Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, Salisbury Cathedral; Chapel Royal St James’s Palace; English Heritage; the German artist, Gerhard Richter and many churches, synagogues and individuals.

 

“As a charity, we rely on the support of many people and organisations, including our Friends and Special Supporters, city livery companies, charitable trusts and others.  We receive no government funding.”
