Twitter is pretty much everywhere you look, and it’s being used for all sorts of purposes. MrXStitch and I both use it to keep up with our friends and crafty people. When I worked as a corporate recruiter, my employer was researching how to use it to generate candidates. As far as I’m concerned, though, the best thing about twitter is all the smart, funny people out there providing free entertainment to us all.

Erika Iris Simmons is an artist who works with non-traditional media.

As someone who grew up with cassette and video tapes, it was somewhat bittersweet to read this statement on her website: I love the nostalgia of the archaic and I hope that not everything which has outlived its use goes to waste.

Ah social media. You can’t keep up with it and you can’t live without it.

Here at Mr X Stitch we like to think we’re pretty savvy with all these social media formats these days – we’ve got a Facebook Fan Page, a Twitter account and even a couple of Flickr groups. We’ve not made inroads into video just yet, but we do have an association with a podcast that is not for the faint of sensibilities.

But now we’ve got a new social media toy to play with – Tumblr.

Tumblr’s cool – it’s microblogging, but unlike Twitter you can post links, photos, video and audio. But unlike normal blogs, this is just kinda snappy – post a picture, kapow! Upload a tune for your followers to dig, zing! It’s reeeeeally easy.

I’ve got a tumblr, Beefranck’s got a tumblr, heck even my wife’s got a tumblr!

Isn’t it about time you got one?

The pictures of nerdy men, both contemporary and from days gone by, would be more than enough to make me happy.
