It’s February 8th! Does everybody know what that means? No? It means I’ve been posting here at MrXStitch for one whole year.

My, how time flies when you are having fun – and that is exactly what this last year has been. It’s so much fun to be able to share the stitchy stuff I love with the readers here, and getting to interact with you via comments here and in The Phat Quarter. I’d like to say thanks to Jamie for asking me to join the blog is the first place, and for being so much fun to work with. Thanks Jamie, ya big lug! ^_^

I thought I’d take this opportunity to look through some of my favorite Emporium posts from the last year. It was really hard to choose – the whole point of the Emporiums is that they filled with stuff I love! – but in order to keep this from being the longest post in the history of the site, I’ve narrowed it down.

Moxie. She’s got moxie, AND she is Moxie. Seriously, what’s not to love about her and the stuff she makes? This little guy in particular stole my heart when I first saw him. And since I wrote my original post I’ve gotten to know Moxie through a shared love of all things awesome. Thank you, internet!

Robots. I love ‘em. And Krupp is the Queen of robot cross stitch. She has a whole slew of robot stitches, and her patterns (including this one!) are available for purchase for in the MrXStitch etsy store. Go get some!

Dr. Horrible, one of the many things that has been brought to life by the wonderful Joss Whedon, is another one of my favorite things. I’ve made a stitch or two about it myself. Heck, it’s how Jamie and I met, so you know it’s a great way to bring like-minded people together. I already knew that Shae was a kindred spirit before she made this lovely stitch, but it definitely confirmed my belief in her awesomeness. You can see more Joss Whedon inspired stitches in my original post about them.

My friends and colleagues will tell you that it is difficult for me to get through a conversation without somehow referencing The Simpsons. I can’t help it, it’s like a compulsion. That’s why I’m always happy to see a Simpsons-related stitch, like this awesome group of Homer portraits from Brian Campbell.

I’m a huge fan of plushies – the more unusual the better. You can see examples of that in these few posts. That’s why when I first found and posted about the work of Monsterosity, I knew I had to own something he had made. Since then we’ve been involved in a swap, frequented each other’s stores, and become friendly internet acquaintances. Once again, I say: thank you, internet!

Thanks for indulging me as I took a look back at the previous year. It was a great one, but I have a feeling this next one is going to be even better.

Last time we featured Shae here, she had stitched goatse. This time she’s stitched an image that’s a bit easier on the eyes. I give you the Three Inch Punisher. Or, as I’ve taken to calling it, the Purple Headed Yogurt Chucker. Whatever you want to call it, nicely done, Shae!

Hi everybody! This week we’re going to take a look at stitching dedicated to the creations of the wonderful Mr. Joss Whedon. The creator and writer of great shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, and one of my personal favorite things, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, Whedon enjoys a huge and loyal fan base, and you know what that means – crafts, baby!

This grouping was part of a Buffy themed swap that Zhad Squad was involved in. The pincushion is embroidered with lyrics from the song “Rest In Peace” that was part of the musical episode, “Once More with Feeling” – plus she made pins that look like stakes with some polymer clay. SO COOL. The cross stitch is a quote from your favorite demon and mine, Anya, who asked the question when playing the board game Life. Zhad Squad had a lucky swap partner for sure!

This cross stitch, Tact as Defined by Cordelia Chase, is another example of the hilarious dialogue that Whedon is known for. “Tact is just not saying true stuff. I’ll pass.” Nice. Thanks for making it, youheartus aka nerdgirljulie!

This cross stitch by SkyyAngel is a clever combination of Firefly and the classic computer game Oregon Trail. Reaver attack – MUCH worse than dying of dysentery.

This quote from Firefly’s deliciously disturbed River was stitched by Caitlinite. I think using this phrase works in many situations, whether it is true or not.

Ah, Dr. Horrible. I’ve been known to make a thing or two inspired by Dr. Horrible myself. I love this stitched quote from the show by janelleirene, especially the little hearts on the frozen yogurts at the center of the crazy random happenstance.

Another wonderful quote from Dr. Horrible was stitched by Shaebay. Shae’s creative addition of actual curtains turned this up from awesome to super awesome. Nice one.

This was a true labor of love, I am sure. Stacia Yeapanis stitched this portrait of Buffy as part of a series she calls “Everybody Hurts”. So many colors and tiny little stitches! The series contains other characters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer as well, and I highly recommend that you check out the rest of her work here.

No Whedon production is ever complete without this guy, lovingly rendered in stitch form by TiLTcreations.

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate America’s independence then appreciating this lovely patriotic cross stitch created by Shaebay.

Now, normally we’d dive right into the rudeness, but Shaebay has pulled out a right corker here, so we want to give you a chance to back out of this one. If you know what Goatse is, then you can take your chances, but if you don’t know what it is, read this wikipedia article and decide thereafter if you wish to continue…

Some cross stitch pieces amaze you, some inspire you, some shock you. Shaebay’s latest piece sits in the first and last categories. At 4 inches by 6 inches, this is possibly the most hardcore cross stitch you’re likely to see.

I can’t even go into any analysis of the source material but it’s a classic picture that defined the internet at one point. Shaebay’s working of it is stunning, in many senses of the word.

It amazes me, and it repulses me. Which in my book means this is art.

Loving these two pieces that Shaebay stitched in honour of Electric Six’s excellent tune “Danger! High Voltage”. Quality.

And because Shaebay is such a flippin’ superstar, you can also download the pattern from here and stitch it yourself! How good is that?

I think someone should take these pieces to the Gay Bar, Gay Bar, Gay Bar!
