Felter Skelter - Needle Felt Art Inspiration

Welcome to Felter Skelter , your essential guide for needle felting inspiration and ideas!

Cat lovers rejoice! Feast your eyes on some fabulous felt felines! Last time I wrote about felt cats, I featured some of the most hyper-realistic examples of what needle felt artists can do.

This time around, let’s look at needle felted cat art that is a little more leftfield with the following artists! Be sure to reach the bottom of the post as I’ve got a special treat for you!

Lizzie Pearce – aka Lizzieneedles

Bristol based artist Lizzie Pearce aka [sherpa id=”9ce96de3″] decapitates vintage ceramic figures in order to give life to her sculptures, both feline and otherwise.

Although I’m focusing on cats here, Lizzie’s Instagram shows that she is capable of transferring all manner of heads to felted bodies. What I love is how she is able to maintain a nostalgic sense with her shape choices and forms.

There is a wonderful weirdness about her work and it’s quite a refreshing idea – definitely an alternative take on this felty feline format!

Ukrainian artist Anna Babenko ([sherpa id=”1ddd3444″]) creates custom felt dolls that have a very classic, timeless appeal .

Jellyfish Handmade

Anna specialises in commission work and her Instagram is packed with creations she’s made for people, and a whole heap of felted creatures! She definitely has a thing for mice of late!

Her cats have a realistic look that is enough to make you think twice when you see them – this makes them an ideal way to remember a previous pet, or indeed to enjoy a feline friend that you might otherwise be allergic to!

LenaVi

LenaVi makes handmade wool felt fashion accessories inspired by the warmth of cats. Some of her items are more traditional – stylish jackets, mittens, brooches – but there is no denying the impact of her cat bags!

You can see more of her work at her LiveMaster site where she is still taking commissions. Could this be the bag for the girl who’s got everything?

Ika Gabriel (Ika Style Design) will felt your cat’s portrait onto a sweater! Her attention to detail is excellent and the likenesses are spot on!

Ika Style Design

Another fitting tribute to your foot footed friend, Ika can do other animals as well, but let’s face it, if you’ve got a cat, chances are you’ve got a sweater covered in cat fur already. So why not go the whole hog?

Masayo Kitajima, aka gooteachan, makes incredible cat clock faces, mobile phone cases, and more!

Her Instagram is a constant source of new ideas and concepts, but these cat clocks are something quite unique!

I can’t decide if a cat face phone case makes the phone more or less desirable to crooks, but I would keep an eye on it for sure!

Do phones like these make cat calls?

BONUS CAT! Forgive me for including my own work in this roundup, but I have a curious cat sculpture that I wanted to share with you!

This is Star Neko and I made him in 2020!
