This year at Standen House in East Sussex, I will be producing an art installation to celebrate the festive season and to put smiles onto the faces of the hundreds of visitors to this magnificent Arts & Crafts house. While the details of the project remain quite vague, the exciting part of the project is the crowd-sourced bauble project where we want to get hundreds of cross stitched baubles to festoon all over the place. Because that’s what you do with them – festoon!
You can stitch any of these designs in whatever colours and on whatever fabric you like as long as it’s 14ct so that it will fit inside a hoop. Get creative and have fun with it!
The aim is to put each piece inside a four inch hoop, so if you can leave a couple of inches of fabric around the stitched piece, that would be ideal.
When you’re done, send the stitched piece – don’t worry about framing it – to Mr X Stitch Bauble Project, 18 Church Lees, Bishop’s Tachbrook, Warwickshire. CV33 9RQ. Please include your name and location on a piece of paper, as we’ll add a tag to your piece so people can find out where you are. The final date for baubles is 31st October 2018.
We will keep you posted on what happens with the baubles, and we think the end result is going to make people happy! So let’s get baubling!
