Book Review – Mollie Makes Embroidery

I’m not going to let the fact that I’m a columnist for Mollie Makes’ sister publication, CrossStitcher Magazine, affect my review of their latest book: Mollie Makes: Embroidery: 15 New Projects for You to Make Plus Handy Techniques, Tricks and Tips

Mollie Makes Embroidery

Compiled by Lara McSpara Watson, their Editor, the book contains a selection of projects that make good use of embroidery and designs that have been created by some of my favourite industry chums.

As well as Nicole Vos Van Avezathe, there’s designs from Carina Envoldsen-Harris and Alyssa Thomas and a really nice iPhone cover pattern from Sophie “WhatDelilahDid” Simpson.

One nice thing about this book is the extensive 65 page glossary of stitches and techniques at the back of the book. It really covers a lot of the stitches, including some lesser known ones – Cretan stitch anyone?

All in all this is a great introduction to embroidery with a range of projects for anyone to have a go at. The glossary is worth the price alone and it’s a great addition to your stitching bible collection.
