Time for another look at some of the great work featured in the forums at Craftster. Note: Although they’re the pick of this week, they may have appeared before this week.
We’re massive fans of Curegreed, and hopelessly proud of the work she produces. We’ve had the honour of reading her experiences as a degree student of the Royal School of Needlework. So it’s a great pleasure to share her latest piece with you – Lady Gaga Stumpwork! 🙂
Here’s what Curegreed said about the piece: “It’s Lady Gaga in stumpwork- a technique popular in the 1600s. It’s raised, with lots of padding, applique and needle-weaving and it’s quite good at utilising the ‘give it a bash’ way I live my life. You use materials you can find and you problem solve as you go. At the RSN we have an ‘RSN standard’ way of doing things but that doesn’t apply to Stumpwork so much. Fun!
“I am doing a series of portraits of inspirational women, good role models. I began this with Lady Gaga – she’s not perfect, but she’s the best we’ve got in the public eye, for young girls at the moment. Or so I believe!”
Curegreed is a fantastic talent and I am excited to see what happens once she passes the Degree course and is unleashed onto the world!
Rosa, you’re awesome, thanks for all your help this year, and here’s to a stitchtastic 2011!
