Exploring Etsy – Pengelly Crafts

Exploring Etsy with loadofolbobbins!

I don’t know about you, but I’m trying to hold on to that summer vibe for as long as possible here in the UK. Don’t get me wrong, I love snuggling under a blanket as much as the next person it’s just those shorter nights and wash of grey days that takes a bit of getting used to! So to try and eek out summer and the wonders it brings just that little bit longer, today’s needlecraft adventure has a decidedly floral note. Without further ado I’m happy to present to you all the beautiful stitchings of Georgia from ‘Pengelly Crafts’

Georgia is 24 and lives with her other half and their dog in a rural county in the UK. She works full time as a volunteer coordinator at a local charity that supports people with convictions. When she’s not working she enjoys arts and crafts, history and a good crossword, but of course she enjoys sewing and hand embroidery in particular.

What is your earliest stitching memory?

I made a Christmas tree bookmark for my mum at school when I was about 4 or 5, and she still has it! It was a cross stitch piece with sequins for the baubles.

What fires your imagination?

I love everything botanical and take plenty of photos of flowers and plants when I’m out walking the dog. The UK is really green and has some lovely wildflowers with really nice natural patterns that I enjoy looking for when coming up with sewing ideas. I also like to scout charity shops to collect botanical books that have flora and fauna illustrations and provide plenty of inspiration. The arts and crafts movement, and artists like William Morris and Charles Rennie Mackintosh have always been my favourite so inspire a lot of my work.

I love the subtle shifts in colour that Georgia achieves in her embroideries, it brings them so beautifully to life and as a huge admirer of William Morris myself I can definitely feel his influence in her work, which is a real treat! To see more wonderfully stitched flora do make sure to take a trip to her wonderful shop!!
