Before we end the FFFoF this month, there’s a couple more book recommendations we’d like to give you. These books are hot off the press and we’ve not been able to get review copies yet, but rest assured we’ll review them the minute we do!
First up is Hoopla: the art of unexpected embroidery by Leanne Prain. “A showcase for those who take the craft of embroidery where it’s never gone before, Hoopla profiles innovative stitch artists who specialise in unusual, guerrilla-style patterns such as subway maps, feminist Girl Guide badges and metal band letterforms, demonstrating that modern embroidery artists are as sharp as the needles with which they work.” This book features a range of people that you know and love, including Penny Nickels, Rosa Martyn, Alexandra Walters, Ellen Schinderman and some wiseacre called Mr X Stitch, among others. It should be really cool!
Second is Adventures in Needlework by Jessica Aldred and Emily Peacock. I love both of these guys and they are extremely talented individuals – Emily is becoming increasingly renowned for her contemporary needlework designs and Jess is Education Coordinator at the Royal School of Needlework. This book will inspire you and provide you with the skills to tackle all manner of projects. I’m looking forward to reading it!
