How intriguing and provocative are these altered candy bar wrappers by embroidery artist Charlotte Bailey of Hanging by a Thread?
And of course, by featuring them in this Too Cute post, I don’t mean to minimize or make light of the deeper meaning behind the pieces, which Charlotte writes about on her blog. I mean “cute” in the sense that the imagery is fresh and bright. And the raised stitching is amazing.
By playing with language, Charlotte transforms the intentionally sweet colors and designs of candy packaging. Behind the playful cuteness of the candy font, there is a more serious exploration of the artist’s (and so many other people’s) relationship to food.
Too Cute Tuesdays are brought to you in association with our friends over at Feeling Stitchy!
