Hi everyone, it’s Mr X Stitch here, your ever-loving Kingpin of Contemporary Embroidery and I’m here to wish you a spectacular 2019!
2018 was a great year on the website and I have to thank the mighty Ailish Henderson for her efforts in keeping the site vibrant and exciting! We had 215 posts this year and over 960,000 page views from over 175,000 people and visitors from every single country in the world, which is amazing!
It has been great to welcome new columnists to the site and over the next few days we’ll be giving you an intro to all our columnists as well as some of their greatest hits, so that you can get to know them and inevitably, love them. Every author who writes for the site does it as a way of sharing their love of needlecraft, and it’s wonderful to see the diverse approaches and ideas that spring from the creative collective consciousness!
This year I’m committed to improving the visibility of the site in global terms so that more people can enjoy the huge repository of posts we’ve got. I don’t think there’s another site that can compete with the volume of inspirational posts we’ve got in our archives. Ten years worth of stitchy goodness has got to be useful and I want to help more embroidery fans enjoy the content we’ve featured, so with a bit of luck and some serious tidying in my back end (oo-er!) I think we should get somewhere.
We’re always on the look out for new authors to share their stitchy stories, so if you’re a passionate crafter and you dabble with a needle as part of that passion (stitching not drug use, yo!) then feel free to get in touch. We’re keen to continue some of our older columns with new blood, so if you’ve got an interest in lace, machine embroidery or quilting, we’d love to hear from you! Fill out the form at the bottom of this post to get in touch!
As well as tuning this website, I’m also continuing with XStitch Magazine and seeing how we can unlock the potential of the digital format to produce the world’s best cross stitch magazine. If you’ve not bought a copy of XStitch yet, hop on over to the site and see what takes your fancy!
We’ll keep doing our best to share groovy things via our social media platforms, so be sure to find us on Facebook, follow us on Instagram, subscribe to us on YouTube, pin us on Pinterest and ignore us on Twitter! And if you want to get in touch and share your thoughts and ideas about the world of needlecraft, go for it!
Thank you so much for reading this post and any of the posts that have gone before. It’s been an honour to explore the world of needlework with you and I look forward to much more of the same. Here’s to a stitchtastic 2019!
The Kingpin of Contemporary Embroidery. Committed to changing the way the world thinks about needlecraft.
