Kate Westerholt is a cross stitch pioneer. Back when the rest of us were ignoring this cross stitch nonsense, she was paving the way with her high spec subversive samplers.
Like the first person ever to do a 360 degree backflip on a motocross bike, Kate opened people’s minds to the way an old and somewhat forgotten craft – the cross stitch sampler – could be reinvigorated for the 21st century.
Those of us who explore this genre with gay abandon owe Kate Westerholt thanks. She is a founding father (mother?) of contemporary craft.
And she kicks ass!
You can find out more about her at her website.
