Laura Amiss is a textile artist from Amsterdam.
She combines free machine embroidery, textiles and handstitching to create charming vignettes.
Her work is reminiscent of Gillian Bates and Laura McCafferty, and yet has it’s own distinct voice.
Several of her pieces combine recycled and new materials and I particularly like the way she creates images with more than one layer, leaving long threads on the bottom layers to create a more sketched feeling.
Charming colour palettes combined with a nifty retro style means that these pieces really push my buttons.
You can see more of Laura’s work at her website, and you can purchase her works and prints on her etsy store.
