I have to come clean and admit that I very nearly forgot this month’s blog post so, forgive me if this post is a little short.
As it’s the New Year I was thinking of popular films in 2014, of course “Guardians of the Galaxy” immediately springs to mind. So, I thought I would share some plush examples of everyone’s favourite film star of last year…Groot!
Two of these are patterns so if you know how to knit or crochet you will be able to make your own Groot…and seriously, who wouldn’t want their own potted baby Groot?
If knitting is your thing, check out this adorable pattern by loudXmouse on Etsy. It’s very reasonably priced at $2.50 and is an instant download so you can get to work knitting him right away!
Using knitting or crochet to make this character seems to be the perfect medium as it imitates the texture of wood.
This plush Groot by MrsVolv on Deviantart is a feast for the eyes, this one has been sold but maybe she could be commissioned to make another. He is 13″ tall and has jointed arms and legs.
I have saved my favourite for last, this crocheted Groot by Twinkie Chan. Twinkie Chan‘s patterns are the reason I wish I knew how to crochet. The great news is that if you do know how to crochet this pattern is free over on her blog.
Becky Gould is the big kid behind Scrumptious Delight. Working from her home in Vancouver, BC she makes plush toys and soft sculptures that combine a love of food, all things furry and an unnatural appreciation of small appliances.
