I recently had the great good fortune of meeting Matthew Monthei (a.k.a. Beefcake Craft Arcade) in person at the Stitch Fetish 4 show in LA. More that that, we had a wonderful conversation about the details and process of creating this phenomenal piece, The Ramble.
Matthew did a fantastic job photographing his work but, in person, it is even more stunning. The beautiful hand stitching on the multiple layers of the photograph paper is breathtaking. And the depth he created by cutting out and stacking the photographic image gives the piece an airy, three dimentional quality.
Check out more of Matthew’s work on his website. (NSFW) I, for one, am a huge fan.
