Stitchgasm! To Adore and Adorn by Annette Heully

I’m amazed by handmade lace.

But I’m in awe of the insane artistry of this figural, handmade lace by Los Angeles artist Annette Heully.

We all love thread, right? Annette has sculpted with her thread, creating a figure that lives out here in the world, without the support of a ground fabric.

But I don’t want to give the impression that it’s merely the technique that I admire. (Although that is certainly impressive.) It’s the lovely webs of the bodies themselves, frothy and elegant against the black ribbons. Celebrations of the human form.

These pieces are currently on view until Feb 27th (and for sale) at the Stitch Fetish 4 show at the Hive Gallery in LA.

For more of Heully’s work, visit her artist website. And fall in love.
