Jujujust | Mr X Stitch

A hearty welcome to both 2015 and you again my dear readers, I hope so far the year has treated you kindly. Over recent months I have started to hoard a plethora of talented and inspiring Etsy makers all ready and waiting to delight and enchant you all. After a quick rummage in my crafty cupboard of inspiration I have plucked out the truly stunning work of Judit Just to share with you, her shop 'jujujust' is an explosion of colour I want to dive into straight through my screen. Tapestries by Jujujust (Tapestry) Necklaces by Jujujust (Hand Embroidery) Judit, a spritely young 28 year old (the same age as me? whatever makes you think that!), hails from the wonderful city of Barcelona, Spain. After finding her soulmate and getting married she has recently moved and is now very happily living in the United States. Judit started out studying fashion design, but never really liked it, increasingly frustrated by the rather conceptual heavy process, when all she really wanted to be doing was getting stuck in and using her hands making – much to her professors' chagrin. After her mother sadly passed away she got out of school and began a search to find something to keep her busy and started studying sculpture outside the city in a small industrial town. Fours years on and she began to miss fabrics, threads and textures. After getting her Mum's sewing machine she realised she wanted to be reconciled with the textile world. So for the last three years she's studied textile arts at a school in downtown Barcelona called 'La Massana', learning to create with fabrics, embroidery and weaving with looms. In her own words: "I think I've really found my hidden passion." I have been sewing and crafting since I was little because my mother used to do it all the time. I still have the memory of me next to her creating dresses for my dolls, making fabric collages and I also did my first Tapestry when I was 11! I learned from her, the power of creating things with my hands, and constructing something beautiful with just a few materials and good ideas. After a short hiatus from my store I feel like now is the perfect time for me to find my style and create my own mark. In these last months, after graduating, getting married and moving to another country, I started to really think about what I wanted to say with my work and where my inspiration comes from. My favourite ideas come to me right before I fall asleep!
