JOSH BLACKWELL Working across mediums, Josh Blackwell creates art objects and installations that explore and challenge the purpose and use of everyday, disposable items. Using characteristically bold hues and textured surfaces, he constructs a careful critique of the two-dimensional boundaries of painting in Paper Sweaters (2011). In Plastic Bag as Humble Present (2012), discarded bags are reclaimed and immortalized as works of art, ennobling the objects while simultaneously rendering them functionally useless. Blackwell's work has been exhibited in numerous institutions, including Museum Bellerive in Zurich and MoMA PS1. MICHELLE LOUGEE Michelle Lougee is a fiber artist, sculptor, and ceramist. Her work addresses the impact of our consumerist society on nature. She is a member of the Boston Sculptors Gallery. In addition, she teaches sculpture, ceramics, pottery, and drawing to adults and children at various local museums. She holds an M.F.A and a B.F.A. from Boston University and lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts. "In my art, I strive to replicate the animated quality that all living things possess. That is what makes nature beautiful. My job as an environmental artist is to capture that beauty in my work while instilling a message into it." JERRY BLEEM Jerry Bleem, an artist, teacher, writer, Franciscan friar and Catholic priest, earned his M.F.A. at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and his M.Div. from the Catholic Theological Union at Chicago. As an artist, Bleem examines the cultural construction of meaning by looking at what we discard and by transforming the nonprecious through time-intensive accumulation. His work serves to highlight the relationship between value and identity, and to consider assumed ideals. The resulting work–both 2- and 3-dimensional surfaces–mines topics ranging from apprehension to beauty, ecology to politics. NICOLETTA DE LA BROWN Nicoletta is a performance artist, interdisciplinary fabricator, producer, speaker, mother of four, filmmaker, self-love champion, and unicorn. She is Black Latinx; proud to be a first-generation Panamanian born in the United States. Nicoletta puts energy into developing works that communicate to others about the beauty of existence. Her work is about light, connection, community, healing, and self-love. She fabricates sculptural installations that are meant to communicate introspection. Her vessel is both her canvas and the instrument she creates with. During her performances, she sculpts space with her body. She is motivated by the idea of the collective oneness; that all is interconnected. Art is not something that she does. Art is how she lives. Who she is. Works of art are handled with care. She loves herself gently, with kindness, and encourages others to do the same through her works of art.
