Rebecca Ringquist | Mr X Stitch

We've enjoyed the work of Rebecca Ringquist on more than one occasion, so it's a pleasure to review her new book - Rebecca Ringquist's Embroidery Workshops. Rebecca is a very talented embroiderer who has put a lot of effort into teaching the craft to people. We've given you the chance to take part in her Sampler Subscriptions, which are a great way to learn skills alongside other people from around the planet. Rebecca's new book takes that idea and extrapolates it even further. There's a lot of information at the start of the book to help you get to grips with your equipment before moving onto some basic stitch types. From there, sections called Trace, Draw, Layer and Finish show you how to evolve your stitching skills in different directions, and each section contains a selection of projects to try out. Rebecca has a really personable style of writing and her designs can best be described as modern bohemian. She's not afraid to combine colour, fabric manipulation and all manner of techniques to create new ideas, and her ethos of stitching outside of your comfort zone is something that we should all embrace. I think that a lot of people will enjoy Rebecca Ringquist's Embroidery Workshops - the projects will inspire you to make a groovy range of homewares and will enhance your stitching skills along the way.
