Patrick Perry, “Soft Blows†This queer Harlem-based artist plays with the concept of ‘subversive cross stitch’ fusing traditional cross-stitch designs with grossly pejorative anti-gay slurs that both seduce and repulse the viewer, ultimately engaging the audience in the exploration of their own feelings of attraction, comfort, disgust or guilt.
