Millinery Instagram Accounts – 2016 Edition

Millinery Operations with Kristin Silverman

It’s the end of the year, and if you’re anything like me, you’re not in the mood for anything especially thought-provoking. That’s right: It’s millinery instagram eye-candy time! Last December I shared my Top 10 Instagram Accounts for Hat Lovers, and it seems like a great thing to do again.

Also, I like sharing Instagram because it doesn’t require me to copy and upload designers’ photos. It just links to their own accounts, so they maintain control over their images.

10. Jill Humphries (@millineryjill)
With 16,000+ followers, this account isn’t exactly an undiscovered treasure. Lots of racewear styles. She posts consistently amazing work, but this one from today especially knocked my bead-loving socks off:

9. Lesley McSeveny,  Jessie Bruce Headwear (@jessiebruceheadwear)
On the other end of the spectrum, here’s an account with a mere 81 followers. But she posts some very nice hats, so give her a follow. I especially like this recent one:

8. Ann Claire Millinery (@annclairemillinery)
With cut-out shapes and other innovative designs, this is a fun and fabulous millinery instagram account to watch!

7. FabGabs (@fabgabs)
This is an Etsy vintage seller, so it’s not only hats. Lots of dresses and other vintage wear. But there are lots of vintage hats, too. Especially of late. Yum!

6. All Ginned Up (@allginnedup)
If you love vintage styles, check out All Ginned Up. These aren’t true vintage, but inspired reproductions. This millinery instagram feed is a mix of behind-the-scenes shots of hats in progress, as well as finished pieces. And they are amazing!

5. Atelier Chapeau Égoïste (@chapeau_egoiste)
This Russian milliner creates gorgeous couture designs. Just stunning work — and the epitome of “eye candy.” I could look all day.

4. Orlando Palacios, Worth & Worth (@worthandworth)
Hand-crafted, traditionally made hats … and stunning photography. A beautiful millinery instagram account !

3. Cha Cha’s House of Ill Repute (@chachashouse)
I’ve been a fan of Cha Cha’s designs for a while now. They’re funky, innovative, and modern. It takes so much skill to make a “busy” hat and yet have it be perfectly balanced and not overdone. Other styles are more simple, but still fresh and unique.

2. Z Malan (@zmalannewyork)
I have a special fondness for accounts where I can really feel the personality of the designer behind the brand (but not so much that I’m looking at photos of their kids or breakfast all day). Z Malan does this perfectly! Wonderful hats, and a great person behind them. And style, style, style!

1. Michelle Coursey (@myvintageloveblog)
Not a milliner, but a vintage lover. I got into millinery because of my love of vintage styles, so this account is pure fashion joy for me. If there’s an event to wear vintage styles — tweed rides, Jazz Age Lawn Party, vintage trains — she’s there, and looking amazing! Vintage style perfection … which of course includes lots of hats !

Note: The photo at the top of this entry is a photo I took at East Coast Trimming when I visited there. They also have a lovely milinery Instagram feed, which you can find at @eastcoasttrimming.
