Firstly, I would just like to express my hope that all my UK readers are coping in this rather intense heat wave. I myself consider it somewhat of a miracle that I haven't melted and can still bring you this month's instalment of 'Exploring Etsy'. So let's all set our fans to maximum, glug down an icy drink and dive in to some new needlecraft delights. Today's maker, the super talented Kayley MacLean, is a master of stitching on a more unusual surface…paper. Her shop 'Pulp Stitchin'' is home to some truly unique and stunning work. Kayley is an embroidery designer/maker from Aberdeen, Scotland. Scientist by day and stitcher by night, 'Pulp Stitchin' was created in 2016 after she became inspired by the vast creative scene in the Northeast of Scotland. Today, she makes embroidered pieces inspired by nature and geometry to create contemporary and minimalist pieces with texture and clean lines which can be used to decorate any modern home. What is your earliest stitching memory? I always loved being creative turning my hand to all sorts of crafts whether it be making a rug, glass painting or pottery. I was taught to sew at primary school making my first bookmark, I was hooked! From there I worked my way through many kits leaving a trail of threads everywhere, nothing has really changed! What fires your imagination? The great outdoors, inspiration is everywhere! I love being outside and taking long walks in our local area, nature really inspires me whether it's waves at the beach or snow on the Cairngorms.
