Hello there, I’m Kate and welcome to my ‘Deviant Discoveries’. My new column here is to navigate the labyrinth that is deviantART and bring you fresh work from artists. I’ve been lurking in the depths of dA, scouting for stitchy goodness which I will share with you lovely lot every Friday.
We start this week with a well loved subject here on Mr X Stitch…cats! This fine piece of hand embroidery is by HL Tyler.
‘One of 100’, is based on one of Countess Gertrude’s 100 white cats from the Gormenghast novels by Mervyn Peak. Turns out Tyler is also a wonderful sculptor, just check out the rest of their work over on dA (my favourite being ‘Ghost Squid’). If you fancy adorning your home with some awesome embroidery then you can also head over to Etsy and snap up a piece.
Like many social platforms, dA can be a powerful tool to share work and engage with like-minded fellows. If that sounds up your street then come join us! See you over in the Phat Quarter dA group.
