The Mr X Stitch Contemporary Needlework Prize is a celebration of the magnificence of the needle arts. From cross stitch to quilting, from goldwork to soft sculpture, from tufted rugs to French knots, it invites embroidery and textile art enthusiasts to enter their creations as part of an international exploration of this mighty craft form.

There are four categories in the competition:

Mr X Stitch Contemporary Needlework Prize - Hand Embroidery Category - sponsored by Tina Francis Tapestry
Mr X Stitch Contemporary Needlework Prize - Machine Embroidery Category
Mr X Stitch Contemporary Needlework Prize - Mixed Media Category - sponsored by David & Charles
Mr X Stitch Contemporary Needlework Prize - 3D Textiles Category

You are invited to take part in the Prize competition by submitting up to three images of your work that fits within one of these categories. You can also include an artist statement so we can get inside your work.

It is a juried competition and you can meet the Judges here.

You can submit your entry from 1st to 31st July, and the work is submitted digitally.

There are prizes for the first three places within each category and the winning pieces will be collated into a Prize catalogue, in the form of a calendar, which will be available later in the year. Each winner will also have an exclusive interview on the NeedleXChange podcast.
