English textile artist Mrs Bertimus is a self described art tutor, painter and “maker of things”. Those “things” she makes are absolutely gorgeous textile creations, stitched with much love on her trusty (but a bit rusty) sewing machine that she’s had since she was just thirteen.
Mrs Bertimus mixes her freestyle machine embroidery with other found textiles, buttons and embellishments to create rich, textured pieces of art.
She works out many of her pieces before hand in beautiful sketches, before she digs in with stitches and other forms of mixed media. She also includes some hand embroidery in her textile pieces.
Gear Threads is brought to you from the offbeat gals at Urban Threads. Created by illustrator Niamh O’Connor, Urban Threads is revolutionizing machine embroidery one edgy, elegant, innovative, and/or offbeat design at a time. Discover the future of digital stitchery at www.urbanthreads.com.
